AGE APPROPRIATE, SPECIALIST UNTIS FOR TEENAGERS WITH CANCER
Between six young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day. Teenage Cancer Trust is dedicated to providing facilities in which teenagers can be treated together, rather than with adults or children, in environments specifically tailored for them.
During the design of the Bexley Wing John Cooper worked with the Teenage Cancer Trust to design a specialist unit for young adults within the hospital.
This was a unique experience, working directly with a client group of teenagers and the TCT to come up with the design for a set of spaces that were appropriate for this age group and radically different to a traditional hospital setting.
